A Bit of Glam

Bear with me as I'm trying to post from my iPad for the first time!  Pictures may not be centered, etc, but at least they are on there!!

I am up north in rainy Seattle visiting family for the week. I may go through a bit of stamping withdrawals.  I did bring my swap cards to assemble, getting ready for Lisa Pretto's Phoenix retreat coming up. Can't wait!

I was scrolling through some pictures and realized I hadn't posted this card yet, and it fits nicely into this week's challenge over at stampinkPaper.com. It's a tic-tac-toe challenge. My card hit all the squares with heart, pink, and bling!

I used the Happy Hearts Embossing Folder on the bottom third of the card, added some black, Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper, and white layers. The stamps are from the Bloomin' Love Photopolymer Stamp Set, and I took a black Sharpie to some rhinestones to tie in with the black layers. The ribbon is from the new Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit. These are adhered to a Rose Red base.

Inside I stamped the banner in Rose Red, the sentiment in black, and added an Itty Bitty Accent heart punched from the Glimmer paper.

Don"t forget to check out the new Weekly Deals just posted today. The Zig Zag Embossing Folder is on there--love that one!  Go to www.karenhallam.stampinup.net to see the Deals.  Sorry, I'm really limited on this iPad and linking from it is something I am lost at!!!  Something to work on!

Have a great week!  I will be back to my computer next week with new cards to share. Until then,
Happy Stamping!

I Heart You for PPA 284

It doesn't get much heartier than this!  Today's card was inspired by the Pals Paper Arts challenge.  Here is the banner that got me started...

I didn't see a valentine in this sketch at first.  Then after I pulled out my Love Blossoms Designer Series Paper Stack, the ideas started falling into place.

I chose Rose Red for my base color and Blushing Bride for the circle, pulling the colors from the DSP.  I embossed another piece of Rose Red cardstock cut slightly smaller than the base with the Happy Hearts Embossing Folder.  The large red heart is from the Sweetheart Punch and the tiny hearts are from the Hearts Border Punch.  I stamped the sentiment from the And Many More stamp set in black and cut it into a little banner.  A Blushing Bride button and some Baker's Twine finish it off.

Very simple ~ easy to duplicate!  One more photo to show you that I elevated the large heart with double Dimensionals.  It lifts it up a little higher to make a bigger impact.  Visit www.palspaperarts.com to see all of the entries for some great inspiration - and join us by playing along!  Give it a try ~ it is fun to see what you can create by following a basic sketch.

A Beautiful Blessing

This is quite possibly my favorite paper of all the new DSP papers we have in the new catalog.  It comes in the pack called Birthday Bouquet.  And I got the idea of putting vellum over it from Connie Babbert.  It softens it and makes it even more beautiful!

This could be a valentine...I was thinking for a mother or from mother to daughter.  It would also make a pretty Mother's Day card.  Here is what I did:

The base card is Mint Macaron, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The DSP is 1/4" smaller - 5 1/4" x 4".  I cut a piece of vellum and glued it over the top with Vellum tape in the corners.

My DSP had been a 6" wide piece, so when I cut it to 5 1/2" I was left with a 1/2" strip exactly the right length.  So I flipped it over and found the Mint print!  Love it when that happens!  I backed it with Blushing Bride cut to 1" wide.

I stamped the greeting from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Soft Suede on white, cropped it with the label framelit from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies, and sponged Blushing Bride around the edges.  A 3-strand Blushing Bride Baker's Twine makes a fun bow, and the row of 3 pearls dresses it all up.

On the inside I stamped a flower from Bloomin' Love after coloring it with markers that matched the DSP on the front.  I'm not sure using markers on photopolymer gives you the best result.  Next time I might stamp it with a neutral color and color it in with my Blender Pen and inks.  The Markers I used were Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, and Mossy Meadow.

"Love You" is also from Bloomin' Love and I used Soft Suede ink.  I punched the tiny hearts out with Blushing Bride using the Hearts Border Punch.  I hope you were able to snatch that one up from last week's Weekly Deals!  Anytime they offer a punch at 25%, I grab it.  It's a great way to build up your collection, and punches are something that you will use forever.

Speaking of Weekly Deals,

we've got some fabulous deals for you this week! To take advantage of 25% savings, be sure and add this Weekly Deals to your shopping bag.

Weekly Deals from Stampin' Up! #dostamping #craftingsupplies

I just got the Party Punch Pack in the mail today.  I'm so excited to play with it!  Stayed tuned for some card ideas using the fun little balloon, candle, and cupcake!

That's it for now.  When you place your orders, don't forget to add it up to $50.00 and then order an amazing (and FREE) item from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog!  You can browse the catalogs by clicking on the sidebar pictures.  Enjoy!

Until next time ~

A Valentine CASE for Sunday

Happy Sunday to you all!

I love looking through Pinterest for card ideas and inspiration.  Every once in awhile I find one that says, "me, me, you have to make me!"  This was one of those cards :-)    The combination of Crumb Cake and Real Red really appeal to me.  So, I CASEd this from Scrappin' and Stampin' in GJ.  I don't know who you are, but I like your style!

My papers and sentiment stamps are different, but the layout is the same:  Gorgeous Grunge splotches in Crumb Cake on Whisper White, 4 Sweetheart Punches using reds and crumbs, a Real Red button with Linen Thread, and 2 small punched hearts.  I crimped the one Crumb Cake heart, and I popped the two small hearts up with Dimensionals.

"~so sweet~" is from Hello Life, and I used a stamp from Lovely Amazing You on the inside.

So thank you GJ for sharing your card and for the lovely inspiration!  Happy Valentines's Day!

Small and Sweet

This card looks large in the photo, but actually it is only 3" x 3" - a small and sweet little valentine to share!

You may not recognize the heart doily...yes, it is in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.  I turned it over to use the white back.  The opposite side is gold foil from the Love Blossoms Embellishments Kit!

I used Watermelon Wonder for the card base and solid heart (cropped out using the heart from the Mini Treat Bags Thinlits Dies), a layer of Designer Series Paper from Birthday Bouquet, and a Blushing Bride print from Love Blossoms DSP Stack punched out with the Sweetheart Punch.

The tiny button is a Calypso Coral button and I tied a double bow with Blushing Bride Baker's Twine (on sale right now).

The doily is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Inside ~ I glued a single row of Watermelon Wonder hearts at the bottom, mimicking the print on the front.  I punched them out with the Hearts Border Punch.  And guess what?!!!  This punch on sale this week at a 25% discount!  See it HERE.  This is a must-have punch.

That's it.  Simple, easy, sweet - very valentine-y.  Someone's going to [heart] it!

Have a wonderful weekend ~

Love Tree

Have you ever carved your initials into a tree?

My friend told me a sweet story about her husband carving their initials into a tree in their front yard when they bought a new house.  She had asked me to create a valentine for her to give him, and I couldn't wait to turn her story into a card!

This was fun.  I used all Stampin' Up! products except for the 2 little J's that I heat embossed into the heart.

The tree trunk is Crumb Cake, embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Embossing Folder.  I glued the trunk directly to a piece of DSP from our new Love Blossoms DSP Stack.  The heart is from Groovy Love, stamped in Rose Red and punched out with the Sweetheart Punch.  The tree leaves were cropped out of Garden Green Cardstock using various sizes of the Floral Frames Framelits.  Each layer is popped up with Dimensionals, as is the heart on the tree.

Inside ~
Not to state the obvious, but I thought the & on the inside went well with the outside.  This frame is from Bloomin' Love in the new Occasions Catalog, and the sentiment is from the Host set, Six Sayings.  Oops, that was from the Holiday Catalog, so may no longer be available.  There are several equally nice stamps that will fit into this frame.

I considered embellishing the tree leaves somehow, but the background paper is pretty busy, so I left it unadorned!  What do you think?  Does it need more frill???  Maybe a little Versamark stamping on the green to give it a textured look...   next time!

Think she'll like it?

My Heart Smiles

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for January 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are showcasing projects using Stampin’ Up! products featuring a theme from any of the following: Valentine’s Day; Thinking of You; Get Well; or Sympathy. All of these themes come “From the Heart.”  We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

A favorite phrase of mine has been, "That makes my heart smile!"  So when I saw this stamp in the Suite Sayings stamp set, Occasions 2016 catalog, I knew it would be on my must-have list!

I learned about this cute "collar fold" from Stamping School by Linda Heller.  With the sweet prints from the new paper stack called Love Blossoms, it was easy to find a 2-sided paper that would lend well to this fold.

I stamped the heart with Rose Red ink from the You're So Sweet stamp set (page 57 Annual Catalog),  then cut it out with the heart framelit from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. These 2 items come as a bundle and save you 15% when you buy them together.  I do love how so many fun products from the various Stampin' Up! catalogs work so well together.

I backed the heart with Rose Red paper.  No - there isn't a die that cuts this one out.  I took the framelit from the inside heart, turned it upside down, traced around it onto the Rose paper, then quickly snipped it out with my Paper Snips.  A perfectly-sized border!

Although it's hard to see in the photo, I added 3 small rhinestones to the centers of 3 flowers on the card front that adds a pretty little sparkle to the valentine.

On the inside ~ 2 strips of Love Blossoms DSP (1/2" wide), and another stamp whose font goes very well with the stamp on the front!  This one is from Bloomin' Love, page 17 in the Occasions Catalog.  All these coordinating products make my heart smile!  See the list of all the products I used at the bottom of this page and click on any picture to pop over to my online store and shop 24/7!

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!

Happy hopping!

Weekly Deals and Samples For You!

Hi Everyone!  I'm a little late getting this out there today, but in case you are checking blogs this evening, I wanted to post the Weekly Deals for you to see.  These prices will be good through next Monday, January 18, 2016.  Here they are...

I can tell you from my experience, the Envelope Paper is really a nice weight and not only makes perfect envelopes, it can be used as an envelope liner to add color and pattern without making the envelope too heavy.  Good stuff!  It comes in neutral colors too.  I'm hoping we will have more color choices when the new catalog comes out in June.

The Hearts Border Punch is one of my all time favorites.  And how timely for Valentine's Day next month!  Here are a couple of projects I made last year using this punch:

The Sheltering Tree and the Groovy Love stamps sets are still available in our Annual Catalog and I'm using them for valentines this year as well.

The Something To Say stamp set is one of those go-to sets for most every occasion.  It's very versatile and I've used mine a lot.

So you may want to add these to your shopping cart.  Great prices for one week only!

*****BE SURE to stop by tomorrow for our monthly Pals Blog Hop!  There will be tons of fun projects to look at and ideas to glean from*****

Happy shopping and happy stamping!

You Send Me Soaring

Good Monday morning!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are ready to take on a new week!

On Friday I showed you an ultra "girlie" valentine, with flowers, hearts, and pastel colors.  Today I have a more manly valentine!  Well it still has hearts and even a touch of pink in it, but the airplane makes it seem a little more masculine to me.....

I got this layout from Linda Heller at Stamping School, and added my own color scheme from some new papers out of the 2016 Occasions catalog.  Both the Bermuda Bay and the hearts papers are from the Have a Cuppa Designer Series Paper Stack.  You get 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs in 6" x 6" squares.  I love these small paper stacks because you get so many designs to choose from and the pack is an affordable $8.00!

The stamp set I used is free.  Yep!  It's from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and you get to choose it as a free gift when you order $50.00 worth of products from Stampin' Up!  This one is called Sky Is The Limit and it is a goodie.  Birthday, Congratulations, Valentine's - good for so many occasions.  It is only available through February 15 however, so if you like it, get it now!

On the inside, I added my own valentine greeting, then stamped the airplane smoke in a soft Smoky Slate and added a tiny Bermuda heart from the scrap I had left over.

If you are interested in participating in this awesome annual promotion and want to collect some free goodies, you can browse through the catalogs on the right sidebar, or just click to my online store at Stampin' Up! and see all that is offered there.  I appreciate your orders and would love to be your Demonstrator and help you in any way that I can.  Email me or add a comment at the bottom of this post and I will get back to you right away!

Let's get stampin'!

Love Blossoms

Here's a very feminine and flirty valentine for you today!  It definitely isn't limited to Valentine's Day, though.  This would make a pretty wedding or anniversary card as well.

It's a 4 1/4" square card, so it will fit into a regular envelope - no extra postage required!  I started with a base of Whisper White Thick Cardstock and added a layer of Pool Party.  On top of that is a layer of our beautiful new Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  It's in the birthday section of the Occasions catalog, but I think it also makes a beautiful valentine card!  Love how the Stampin' Up! products all work together so nicely.

Next the ribbon.  Isn't this ribbon gorgeous?!  The ribbon, gold foil heart, and enamel dot are all from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  Then a 3" layer of Pool Party and a slightly smaller one of Whisper White.  The 2 hearts were punched out using the Sweetheart Punch in Pool Party and Blushing Bride.

The sentiment is from Hello Life in the Annual Catalog, page 131. Another great versatile stamp set that works for many occasions.

I'm curious -- what is your favorite bundle in the 2016 Occasions Catalog?  I would love to know!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a good weekend ~

My Pretty Valentine for PPA 282

Welcome!  I've made a valentine card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week.  My design was inspired by this sketch by Mary Fish:

The Designer Series Paper that I used for the background piece is from the new 6"x6" paper stack called Love Blossoms.  I love this stack!  The papers are so pretty, primarily Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Garden Green, and Crumb Cake.  Perfect for Valentine's Day cards.

My sentiment comes from the same suite, page 17 in the Occasions Catalog, and is called Bloomin' Love - a wonderful compliment to the paper stack (of course!).

The embellishments, again from the same suite, are a little kit called Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  This is one of those must-haves for your valentine cards.  You get a beautiful satin Blushing Bride ribbon, gold foil doilies, a strand of pearls, the little rose satin bows and glitter dots that I used on this card, and wooden hearts and a pack of sequins.  Tons of fun stuff!

The little trio of hearts that I glued to the green strip were punched from the Hearts Border Punch.

On the inside, I cut around a bit of DSP scrap I had left over and glued it in the corner, then stamped the XOXO in Rose Red.

Pop on over to the Pals Paper Arts site and see many other ways our friends have interpreted this design sketch!  I can't wait to see them myself.  You are welcome to play along!

Happy Stamping!

Happy 2016!

Happy New Year to you!

The house is very quiet this morning and I'm having some "me" time - reflecting on this past year and looking forward to the new year and the possibilities ahead...

I don't make resolutions as such.  The pressure to keep them is too much.  But I do have goals that I hope to reach.  How about you?

One of my goals is to use my paper crafting to reach out more often to people that need to receive a little smile in their mailbox.  Last November my upline, Susan Itell, challenged her team to send out 5 cards/week to anyone we could think of.  I had such a good response to "Sharing Handmade Kindness" that I'm going to be making that a regular routine.  It is a small thing, but one that makes people feel loved.  I would love to know someone is thinking about me, wouldn't you?  Join me in this!  Email and texting are great, but there is something extra special about receiving a hand-crafted, handwritten note card in the mail.

With the new year comes a new catalog with lots of beautiful crafting supplies.  The 2016 Occasions Catalog is going live on January 5 - next Tuesday.  It is big on birthdays this year, but has many options for  Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Spring Flowers, and masculine choices with world-wide traveling in mind.

With the Occasions Catalog comes Sale-A-Bration.  Through March 31st, you get to choose a free item from the SAB Catalog with every $50 you spend in the Occasions and Annual Catalogs.  Online options count too, including the Weekly Deals and Clearance Rack.  Awesome!

If you are new to my blog and order online, name me as Demonstrator and I will send you a gift!  A ribbon, paper sampling, or embellishment from our new catalog will be yours to show my appreciation. I also have the new catalogs to send you.

The Year End Clearance Sale is still on.  Click HERE to see all the great choices and prices.  Ends Jan. 4th.

Weekly Deals offer 4 popular items at a 25% discount.  Click HERE to see what they are this week, through Monday, Jan. 4th.

So here is wishing you all a wonderful 2016!

I would love to hear from you.  How will you be using your crafting this year to reach out to others?  If you are just getting started and need some guidance, let me know!  I would love to help you out.

Happy Stamping!
