Dipping into more watercolor!

Happy Monday!  Here's a cutie for you ~ and so simple, but with a few special elements.  This snappy crab can be found in You're Sublime, which comes in clear or wood mount.

Images by Stampin' Up!

I stamped Mr. Snappy with Versamark Ink, then heat embossed him using black embossing powder.
Out came the Aqua Painter, Calypso Coral and Soft Sky ink pads.  A quick wash of color and done!
I filled in his eyes with Crystal Effects, and although you can't see it very well in the photo, it gave them a cool 3-D effect.

I backed the Watercolor Paper and DSP with skinny black layers, which set off the image nicely.

Black Baker's Twine wrapped around, secured with Dimensionals, and a few strands tied in a knot finish it off.  All of the supplies I used will be listed at the bottom and they are linked to my online store for easy shopping :-)

Have a "snappy" week!  I'll be back tomorrow to show you the new Weekly Deals.  Meanwhile, I'm going to go write my grandson a note in this card and get it into the mail for him!

Happy Stamping!

(Even More) Swaps on Saturday

I mentioned last week that I would share the rest of my swap cards that I received at the Stampin' Up! Retreat in Phoenix earlier this month.  I didn't realize how many I had left to share with you ~ so I'm going to post half of them today and the rest next Saturday!  You can see the former posts here and here.

Got your cup of coffee?  Sit back and relax as you look through these gorgeous cards...

Isn't this the sweetest?  And the pink portion pulls up and out of the mint card for a handwritten note.  Turns out Janice lives in my area and I'm looking forward to stamping with her on occasion!

I love the tone-on-tone look of this one!

Wink of Stella on vellum gives this card a uniquely sparkly quality.

The cut out rose is left open to show the red background paper behind it.  I'm still trying to figure out how she did the cut out behind the sentiment!  Very clever!

Here's another Rose Wonder card, this one backed with Washi Tape!

Love the gold with black - very sharp!

This is fun with the Balloon punch.  Silver Glimmer, Silver Foil, and black.  Lots of sparkle and shine!

OK, that's it for this week's parade of cards.  One more posting to go.  Come back next Saturday to see the rest.  Meanwhile, please come back before then to see what I've been working on!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

A Joyful Wedding Card for PPA 289

Our Pals Paper Arts Challenge this week is a color challenge, and as you can see we were to make a card using Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, and Night of Navy.  As I was looking at these colors together, I couldn't help but think - wedding!  So that is what I did, a wedding card ~

I used several stamp sets, the predominant one being Big News.  I had used this set for the other sentiments, but realized I hadn't yet used the wedding ones.

  Images by Stampin' Up!

The tiny rows of hearts is from Chalk Lines.  The large background flowers are from Garden in Bloom.

Remove the ribbon and the card opens from 2 directions.  I'm not sure if this is called the "Joy Fold" but that would be appropriate for a wedding card!  The squiggles and hearts are from the Tin of Cards set.

If you are planning to give the wedding couple a gift card, there is room for it on the inside right flap.

This was a fun card to make!  I will post measurements and directions in my March Newsletter.  If you would like to receive that in your email, simply sign up for it in the "Contact Me" above this post.  Please specify that you would like to receive my newsletter in the drop down box.  You will receive it right after the first of the month.  I would be delighted to add you to my list!

All supplies used on this project are listed below and they are linked to my store.  A quick click will take you to Stampin' Up! shopping, available anytime, 24/7!

And don't forget to go browse through all of the beautiful projects at Pals Paper Arts!  Click here to see all of the fabulous entries.

An English Garden Hello

Following a layout that Julie Davison shared on her website, I made this sweet little card with English Garden DSP.  You'll find this "hello" stamp in Endless Birthday Wishes.  See Julie's post with measurements HERE

My base card is Wild Wasabi and the pink is Rose Red.

I have plans to use this sketch over and over again with different papers and stamp sets.  It's one of those I call a "keeper" that can work for many different occasions.

Here is the inside.  I used the same Designer Series Paper, but turned it over and used the back!  It's a 1/2" strip.

Here is a similar card with just a few changes...

Instead of wrapping the ribbon all around the card, I glued down a 1/4" strip of Wild Wasabi and added a knot of ribbon with a glue dot.  The Scalloped Circle Punch is bigger at 2 3/8" with a       1 3/4" Circle Punch.  "A Little Thanks" is from One Big Meaning Clear Mount Stamp Set.

I hope you'll try one!  If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask!  Have fun!

2015-2017 In Color Stampin' Write Markers by Stampin' Up!
$15.00, Now only $15.25

I find I'm using my Markers more and more, especially with the beautiful open-style stamps that we have.  I do appreciate how I can color in with markers that will be the exact match to my other Designer Series Papers and Cardstock. I am a little regretful that I didn't buy the whole color set of markers at the beginning.  See those HERE . It seems like a big initial investment, but honestly, if I had just purchased them like that in the beginning, I would have saved money in the long run.

Quick and Simple

Quick and simple ~ sometimes that's all you need!  My daughter loves this little card.  "No flim flam, just beautiful colors together and a pretty font.  That's all you need."  Well...sometimes I love all those embellishments and "flim flam" but I needed to put together a super quick thank you for a friend, and this is just what I wanted.  Can you relate?

The sentiment comes from One Big Meaning - it has quite the assortment of thank you's, all different fonts and sizes.

One Big Meaning Clear-Mount Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

The paper is Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper, a free Sale-A-Bration item with a qualifying purchase of $50.00.  I glued it over a layer of white, then mounted it to a Hello Honey base with Dimensionals.  The tiny flowers stamped in Crushed Curry come in the Botanical Blooms stamp set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.

Today is Tuesday ~ a new week of Weekly Deals!  Pop over to my online store site HERE to see the selection of sales items for the week.  Everything offered is marked down 25%, this week only!

Helping Me Grow in watercolor

Don't these colors just scream, "Spring!" to you?  I've been very interested in trying some water color techniques lately and I saw a video on Acrylic Watercolor Wash by Linda Heller.  This is a surprisingly simple technique where you color on an acrylic block with Stampin' Write Markers, spritz it with water, then place your watercolor paper on top of the block to soak up all the yummy color.

After that dries you can stamp and color over it.  I chose Helping Me Grow and Circle of Spring stamp sets.

Tip:  Always use Watercolor Paper and a permanent ink such as Staz-On or semi permanent ink such as Basic Black Archival Ink.  This paper can handle the water without pilling and the permanent ink won't run when it gets wet.

I used a Blender Pen and an Aqua Painter with my Classic Ink Pads to color in the images.

I am excited to do this again.  With a little more practice, I think I will become more confident with my skills.  I would encourage you to try it!  Watercolor is very forgiving - perfection is not expected!  And each one will look different as the ink decides what it is going to do!!!  I like that!

Try something new this week.  You may discover your inner artist!  Have fun!

(More) Swaps on Saturday

Last Saturday I posted some of the cards I received at a Stampin' Up! event.  We each made several cards to share and swapped with other stampers.  If you missed that post, you can see it HERE.

Today I want to show you some more of the cards I received in our swap.  These stampers are so talented and I get much inspiration from them!

I love the way Terri cut this card and made it look like a gate swinging open!

Ronna stamped on the background, tone-on-tone, and cut a circle from the Birthday Blossoms DSP.  It's quite stunning.

Watermelon Wonder on black ~  gorgeous!

Birthday Blossoms DSP.  These 2 prints pair beautifully.

Another stunning card by Shannon.  The butterfly is shimmery with Wink of Stella, although the camera doesn't really pick it up.

I hope you are enjoying these cards as much as I do.  I will share the rest of my swaps next Saturday.  There are a few more beauties to show off!

Have an awesome weekend!
