Tribute to In Colors: Tangelo Twist

This week I've been creating and posting cards that highlight the 2014 - 2016 In Colors.  As you know, their life with Stampin' Up! is about to end (May 31), and I thought it would be fun to send them off with a little tribute to each.  I've shown Lost Lagoon (see it here), Hello Honey (see it here), and Mossy Meadow (see it here).

Today, I tackled Tangelo Twist. It was a bit of a challenge for me!  It's a great orange, but when I look at it I think of Halloween.  Probably because there was a fun pack of Designer Series Paper in the fall called Happy Haunting that had Tangelo Twist and Black.

Then today, my daughter sent me this beautiful photo from the tulip fields she was visiting up in Washington ~

~ and that was all the inspiration I needed!  Thanks, Olivia!

OK, now I'm looking all through my catalog to find this stamp as I was sure it carried over from a previous catalog, but it isn't there.  It was a single stamp called Love is Kindness, and I'll bet many of you still have it.  If not, I apologize for using a retired stamp!  There are several other flower stamps that would be beautiful on this card, but alas - no tulips!  I digress... The colors I used to color this image were Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz.  I stamped the newspaper portion onto Daffodil Delight, cut it out, and glued it to the image.

Skinny black layers and the Daffodil polka-dot from the Brights DSP Stack bring a pop of color.

All things Tangelo Twist will be posted at the bottom so you can stock up before they are gone!  Pssst, the Satin Stitched Ribbon is on sale in the Clearance Rack for $3.59!

One more thing, today is the last day of 2016 Sale-A-Bration!  Did you get all the free goodies that you wanted from the SAB Catalog?  If not, you have till the end of today.  It was my favorite SAB so far.  I loved all that was offered.  They get better and better each year, don't they?

One more color to go ~ my all-time favorite:  Blackberry Bliss.  Until then,

Happy Stamping!

Tribute to In Colors: Mossy Meadow

Ahhh, Mossy Meadow.  I love the deep earthy color of this green.  It's so rich - will miss it!  I tried something different on this card.  I did a wrap around with the DSP (Botanical Gardens, Occasions Catalog) and stuck a little surprise flower sprig on the back.  I don't know if anyone else has done this before, but I am loving the look of it!

The flowers and leaves are from Botanical Blooms and Botanical Guilder Framelits Dies.  I used Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive, stamped with Mossy Meadow.  The "hello" is one of the Greetings Thinlits in the Annual Catalog.

I snipped the edges of the DSP strips with the Decorative Label Punch, lightly scored them to fit over the fold and glued them down with Fast Fuse, folding the card before gluing down the back part.

All things Mossy Meadow will be posted at the bottom.  Get them soon, before they are all sold out!

If you didn't catch the Weekly Deals already, you can see them HERE.  They have picked a few higher priced items this week, which gives you the best $ discount.  Check it out!

Thanks for stopping by!  Next color up ... Tangelo Twist!  See you next time!

Tribute to In Colors: Hello Honey

Today's card features Hello Honey.  Honest confession~ this was not my favorite In Color, until...   Stampin' Up! started pairing it with fresh colors like Cajun Craze, Blackberry Bliss, and now Mint Macaron!  It took on new life, and now I love this honey yellow shade!

The DSP from Botanical Gardens is the highlight of this card, but backed with Hello Honey and a skinny layer of black really makes it pop.  I stamped the centers of the flowers using stamps from Botanical Blooms.  Isn't it fun?  Buy the stamp set, DSP, and coordinating framelits dies in a Bundle and save 15%.

The sentiment comes in the Six Sided Sampler stamp set.  I had intended to use the hexagon shapes on this card, and took a left turn along the way!

The ribbon is Hello Honey Satin Stitched Ribbon, now retired, but it is available on the Clearance Rack for a great price!

Two colors down, three to go.  Stop by again tomorrow to see which color I will feature next.  I'm kind of feeling it will be Mossy Meadow, but haven't quite decided yet.  Be sure to scroll down and see all of the Hello Honey products you can pick up - but only till May 31 or while supplies last.

Happy Stamping!

Tribute to In Colors : Lost Lagoon

We are on the tail end of the 2014-2016 In Color era ~ I hate to see them go!  These were some of my all-time favorite colors.  Maybe (I'm hoping!) we will see them incorporated into the color collections at some point.  But for now, I'm going to enjoy the last two months with them, then on to the new In Colors for the next two years.

This week, I'm going to feature each of these great colors in an original card.  I've started with Lost Lagoon.  I started to say that it's my fave, but then I thought about Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow... well, I do love Lost Lagoon.  Its watery, smoky blue is so calming.

I used the Honeycomb Embossing Folder on Whisper White for the background layer, and a 3" X 3 1/2" rectangle of Lost Lagoon DSP Stack on top.

The flower is two punches of the Flower Medallion Punch with the center from one of the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.  The two layers of flower are attached with a Dimensional.

"Congrats" is an Expressions Natural Element, glued on top of a piece of Lost Lagoon Satin Stitched Ribbon (currently on the Clearance Rack for a great discount)

This card is perfect for many occasions when a congratulations is in order.  Whatever you stamp on the inside will define its purpose.  I do love a versatile card!

Remember, Lost Lagoon is only available until May 31 or while supplies last.  If it is your favorite, stock up now before it's gone.  I will list everything that is Lost Lagoon-ish at the end of my post, along with the other supplies I used on this card.  If you see something that is a must-get on your list, just click on the picture and it will send you right to my online store and you can put it in your shopping cart.

Stop back by tomorrow for a card featuring Hello Honey.  And as always, thank you for your support!  Happy Stamping!

Circle of Spring for PPA 293

On The Fence

Here is my Pals Paper Arts entry for this week.  And this is the Color Inspiration that drove my design:

I love the soft colors that Michelle Gleeson chose for this week's challenge - very Spring and Easter -like!  There are some beautiful cards for you to see on the PPA web site.  Check them out HERE.

Now the how-to's for my card:

Base ~ Crumb Cake 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Next layer ~ Blushing Bride 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
3rd layer ~ Mint Macaron 5 1/4" x 4"

Sponge Mint Macaron ink up from the bottom about 1/3 of the way to create "grass", then stamp the grass using Mint Macaron and the tiny grass stamp from Sheltering Tree.

Clouds ~ Free hand cut two clouds out of plain Vellum. Adhere with strategically placed Glue Dots or Vellum Tape.

Fence ~ Run a 5" x 4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock through the Big Shot with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  Cut into 1/4" strips.  You will need 7 altogether.  Basket weave the horizontal pieces into the vertical pieces and attach pieces together with Glue Dots.  Cut points on the top posts and trim to the correct size for your card. Glue to card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (aka green glue!)

Wreath and Sentiment ~  Circle of Spring Stamp Set, colored with Blushing Bride, So Saffron, and Mint Macaron using a Blender Pen.  Cut out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  The bow is Blushing Bride 1/4" Cotton Ribbon.  The sentiment was cut with (retired) Mini Decorative Label Punch.

Bird ~ from (retired) Aviary Stamp Set stamped with Basic Gray and fussy cut.

I attached the wreath to the fence with a mini brad, but then covered it up with the bow, so it can just be glued at the top for the same look.

There you have it!  I hope you like it!  Please see yesterday's post HERE to understand why I wanted an "On the Fence" card!  We are down to 7 more days of Sale-A-Bration and your amazing opportunity to get the Ultimate Stampin' Up! Bundle. I can't say when this opportunity might come up again - not for a long while, I'm sure - so act now!

Have an amazing day!
