He's Retiring!

After 30+ years of being our family dentist (three generations of us, I might add) our beloved Dr. Smith is retiring!  I wish him well, but really want to say, "You can't!"

I'm being mature though, and instead I'll send him a nice card and tell him what a great dentist he's been...

I used Wild About Flowers Photopolymer Stamp Set - my first time to use it, but I'm sure it won't be my last.  I didn't want the card to be too feminine, which this set of wild flowers can easily get, so I went with a blue and green color palette.  This DSP is from the Moroccan paper series.  The Emerald Envy Thick Baker's Twine was some left over from a recent Paper Pumpkin kit and the Dapper Denim dot is one of the In Color Enamel Shapes.

I stamped the sentiment on Very Vanilla, cropped it with a Lots of Labels Framelit, then chopped a bit off the top and bottom to give it a more narrow shape.

This is a very nice sentiment on the inside.  I was thinking maybe "How could you?!" but that one wasn't in the set!! :-)

The envelope gets some love with the matching DSP.  The Emerald Envy strip is 1/4" wide.  Are you wondering why I do that?  I'll tell you ~ I can get more from my DSP that way.  My DSP strip is 2" wide x 6" long.  I can decorate 6 envelopes with 1/2 sheet of paper.  No waste!

Let's talk about Paper Pumpkin for a minute.  There is currently a BOGO special for Paper Pumpkin and you can get in on it from now until October 10.  This is a great time to try out PP if you haven't yet.  New subscribers will get the October kit for $19.99 and the November kit comes to your mailbox for FREE.

You get lots of extra supplies to use on other projects (like my Emerald Envy Thick Baker's Twine on the above project) and not only that, but subscribers have access to refill kits for less than half the price of a new kit.  So if you love the September kit ~ those little glass vials are so cute and versatile ~ but you didn't get signed up in time, as a new subscriber, you can order the refill kit of that September kit.  Refill kits include everything except the stamps and ink spot.

Go to paperpumpkin.com now and read about how you can get started.

To see a video of the September Kit and get a peek at what your refill kit will include click HERE.

Now go have some stamping fun and make someone's day with a handmade card or gift from you!

A Merry Monday Card

My first Merry Monday challenge!  Today's challenge is to make a Christmas card with pinks and grays or silver ~

~ so I decided pink and silver trees would work.  Plus I made them as sparkly as I could!

I started with a base of Smoky Slate and added a layer of Pink Pirouette that I embossed with the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.

I cut a hill with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, then added the two trees from the Perfect Pines Framelits.  The back tree is Silver Foil and the front is Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper.  The bows are 1/8" Silver Ribbon.  The star is Silver Glimmer Paper.

I heat embossed the greeting (which was from the now retired Sparkly Seasons stamp set) with Silver Embossing Powder and cropped it out with Layering Ovals Framelits.  The back oval is Smoky Slate cardstock.

I certainly had fun making this card as shiny and sparkly as I could get it!  I hope you enjoy it too :-)

Have a merry Monday!

In Everything Give Thanks

This is one of the cards that my stamping groups made this month.  I think they turned out very pretty!  I love the copper accents and that sweet little pinecone embellishment.

The Thoughtful Branches Bundle is the star of this card.  It is still available, as of Sunday, but won't be around for much longer.  Get it while you can!

The base is Chocolate Chip.  I covered it with random leaf stamping, using the leaf in Thoughtful Branches.  I stamped it with Chocolate Chip ink, but stamped off once for a softer look.

The middle strip is Pear Pizzazz, embossed with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder.  I layered it over 2 strips of Copper Foil and glued it flat on the base.

The greeting is from Suite Seasons, heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder, then colored in with Pear Pizzazz, Cajun Craze, and Peekaboo Peach.  I cropped it out with the Layering Ovals Framelits and layered it over a Cajun Craze scallop.  Then I popped it up with Dimensionals.

I tied three leaves together from Beautiful Branches Thinlits, one in Peekaboo Peach, one in Copper Foil, and one in Cajun Craze, with Linen Thread.  A tiny copper pinecone is dangling from the thread.

On the inside I repeated the leaf stamp, using the same three colors, but stamped off once, and a tiny bow of Linen Thread.

Please let me know if I can help you with any of your supply needs.  All of the materials that I used on this card are from Stampin' Up! and are listed below.  Click on any of the photos to connect to my online store.  And I thank you in advance for your business!

Have a marvelous Monday!  See you soon ~
