Happiest of Birthdays

I was inspired by Linda Heller to make this card ~

This fun and simple layout can be used with many different combinations of Designer Series Papers. Here I've used one of the specialty papers from Affectionately Yours and Copper Foil on a base of Night of Navy.

To start, I stamped a tone-on-tone design using Night of Navy ink on the base card with the matching Love & Affection stamp set. Then I cut a 1-1/2" strip of the flowery DSP with touches of copper embossing and punched both ends with my Triple Banner Punch.  Then I cut a 1-3/4" wide strip of Copper Foil, flagged the ends, and glued the two together. The overall length of the two strips is 5-1/4".

Next I stamped the birthday sentiment from Birthday Blooms and cropped it with the 2-3/8" Stitched Shapes circle framelit. I attached it to the DSP with Dimensionals and secured a bow of Cucumber Crush Thick Baker's Twine and Copper Thread with a tiny paper clip.

On the inside, I stamped another piece from Birthday Blooms in Night of Navy, then added three tiny flowers from Love & Affection in Cucumber Crush, Daffodil Delight, and Flirty Flamingo.

I had some fun with the envelope! I stamped 3 flowers and leaves from Love & Affection. I used a touch of Mercury Glass Stickles by Ranger (not Stampin' Up!) to the centers of these flowers and to the centers on the inside of the card. The Mercury Glass looks very coppery, so it ties it altogether!

Then on the back of the envelope, I added a piece of Daffodil Delight from the Brights DSP Stack, then added a strip of coordinating Washi Tape along the bottom of the flap. If you saw my tip in yesterday's post, you'll recognize it here. If you missed my Tuesday Tip, see it HERE.

Don't the Navy and Yellow look so pretty together?!

My Tuesday Tip For You!

If you're like me, you have gobs of unused Washi Tape in your drawer! Sound familiar? Here is a fun tip that will help you to use up that tape and decorate your envelopes!

After making a card, find a Washi Tape that has the same colors in it. Tear off a strip long enough to cover the back flap of your envelope. Instant wow factor!

Not sending that card out just yet? Maybe you have made it to use in the future when the need arises? Store your card and envelope in a Clear Medium Envelope, and stick that strip of Washi Tape to the back of the outer Clear Envelope.  When you are ready to use the card, the tape easily peels off the plastic envelope to use on the back of your paper one. The stick still sticks!

You can use the Washi Tape to decorate the bottom front of your envelope, or across the very top of the back flap instead of the bottom.  There are lots of possibilities, and with it stored on your clear envelope, you will have it ready to go when you want it!

I hope you liked this tip!  If you would like to see the card that goes with this envelope, come back tomorrow. I'll show you a fun and easy layout that is bright and colorful, and did I mention easy?  See you tomorrow ~

"In The Lines" for a Simple Note Card

Last month I posted a note card that I made with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.  See it HERE. I made another for today's post, with the same basic layout and the thinlit of 5 connecting dragonflies. Here is my card ~

I used the Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper called In The Lines. It is free with a purchase of $50 until March 31st. (whoa, that deadline is coming this week!) I layered it onto a piece of Basic Black and wrapped a length of Blushing Bride satin ribbon around the middle. Then I glued the panel to a 5" x 3-1/2" base card of Blushing Bride.

Next I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Blooms in Basic Black onto Whisper White, cropped it with a Stitched Oval Framelit and backed it with a scalloped layer of Basic Black. I attached it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I cut the dragonflies from Basic Black, glued it to the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue just in the bodies of the dragonflies, and trimmed out the two that overlapped the edges of the card.

I covered the back flap of a Whisper White envelope (from the Note Card & Envelope pack) with the Blushing Bride polka dot from the Subtles DSP Stack. It is so great to have these stacks that match any of the papers that Stampin' Up makes!

If you purchase the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle (an automatic 10% discount), item # 144728 for $46.75 and the Blushing Bride 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, item #141692 for $9.00, you will qualify for a free SAB item and can choose In The Lines DSP, #143830, if you like it!

Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31st - this Thursday! So take advantage of this annual promotion and get some FREE products while you can. A few of the items have sold out. Here is a helpful chart for you to use ~

A Bit of Green for ... Easter???

It's St. Patrick's Day and I'm thinking green....and then I made an Easter card! I guess I don't know anyone who would appreciate a St. Pat's Day card, altho I'm sure there are many of you out there! So to all of you Irish, Happy St. Patrick's Day!

To make this green Easter card, I pulled out my newly acquired Timeless Tags Thinlits Dies - so fun! I'm looking forward to playing with it some more! I started with this flower tag and cut it out four times, once with Cucumber Crush (retiring soon - grab some more now!), once with Wild Wasabi for the leaves, once with Soft Sky for the background sky, and once in Daffodil Delight for the center. There is a plain tag framelit in the set that I cut out in Whisper White. I attached the green to the white and set about filling in the colors like a mosaic tile using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

The base is Crumb Cake and I stamped the greeting from Suite Sayings with Versamark ink directly to the card base, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4" x 5 1/4" then cut it in half at an angle. I did the same with a piece of Cucumber Crush that was 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" and ran it through the Big Shot with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder.

After gluing those onto the base, I added a 1/2" strip of Cucumber/Crumb Cake DSP from Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP.

The flower is popped up with Dimensionals and I added a Linen Thread bow.

Quick, simple, bright and cheerful!  Have a bright and cheerful weekend!  My daughter is coming home tomorrow for her week of Spring Break and we are going to spend the week doing all of her favorite things! She is going to love our warm California weather after spending the winter in Wisconsin (brrrrr!)
