Dreamy Escape!

Does this card give the illusion of being at the beach? Does it make you want to pack up the beach towels and drive to the coast? Or maybe the nearby lake? Well, it's a bit abstract, but that was my intention!

This beautiful Tranquil Tide DSP is part of my favorite ~ Delightful Daisy. This particular print says water to me. I love it!

There are several elements on this simple card. It will be easiest for me to just list them ~

Tranquil Tide Cardstock base, available June 1
Delightful Daisy DSP layer, available June 1
Woods Textures DSP Stack, June 1, cut with Hearth & Home Thinlits for the dock
Pool Party Cardstock cut with Swirly Scribbles Thinlits for water
Whisper White chairs cut with Seasonal Layers Thinlits, June 1
Lemonade and flowers stamped and cut with the Colorful Seasons Bundle, June 1
Whisper White clouds cut with Up & Away Thinlits
Sentiment in Berry Burst from Colorful Seasons, June 1

In my dreams I'm sitting in one of those chairs overlooking the water and thinking of you! Hee hee!

BBQ for Father's Day

My friend asked me for a Father's Day card for her husband. I know from past conversations that he isn't a Tim the Tool Man (darn, I have all those cute framelits!) but he does love to barbeque! I got this idea from Tami White ~ thank you, Tami! ~ and I made some changes to make it my own. I love the idea and may have to use this for my hubby as well :-)

Quick details:
The base card is Soft Sky.
The Weber Kettle is punched from a 1-3/4" circle punch. I used some Urban Underground DSP (retiring).
The legs, handle, and inside circles on the wheels are cut from a silver Foil Sheet.
I hinged the kettle open with a tiny brad.
The silver inner wheels are trimmed down from a 3/4" punch and the black inner circles are from a 1/4" circle punch.
The Smoky Slate smoke is from Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.
The Wild Wasabi grass is from Basket Builders Framelits.
The white clouds are from Up and Away Thinlits.

I stamped Happy Father's Day on the inside with a stamp from Guy Greetings, so I used Today's the Day from Happy Happenings (retiring) on the front.

Thanks for visiting my blog today! If you have any questions about this card or any other, please contact me. I will be happy to get right back to you. If you want to order any of the products that I used on this card, simply click on the product picture below and it will take you to my online store.

Crafting Forever for CPC71

Thank you for visiting Karen's Stampin' Habit!  Today I've designed a card with some new products that will be available to everyone on June 1st when the 2017-18 Annual Catalog goes live.

This fun stamp set is called Crafting Forever.  It comes in either Clear Block Mount or Wood Mount red rubber. The images are perfect for crafters like you!

My inspiration for this card is a sketch from Craft Project Central ~ CPC71. Here is the sketch:

As you can see, I turned the sketch on it's head, and added the sentiment on the lower right. I understand that these sketches are for inspiration and not necessarily to be copied exactly -- good thing, huh?

The Designer Series Paper that I used is also new. It's called Delightful Daisy, and I just know that it is going to be my favorite this year. The prints are gorgeous and the colors are so yummy. This one is a Calypso Coral watercolor wash. I think the terra cotta tone looks perfect with the little painted pot.

I stamped the paintbrush images with Basic Black Archival onto thick Whisper White and watercolored them with my Aqua Painter.  I colored the gray block with Watercolor Pencils and fussy cut it out.  The images are popped up on Dimensionals over a double strand of Baker's Twine.

On the inside, I used two more of the stamps in this set ~

So fun! If you would like to order this set, I have linked it to my online store in the Product List below. If you are a Stampin' Up! Textures & Techniques for Pals Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month we are featuring projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.
You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Scroll down for a Pop-Up surprise!

My card has texture all over the place! Not only texture, but some fun techniques and folds as well. Can you tell I had fun with this one?

Starting with the card front: I've used the metal embossed DSP from Urban Underground to set the stage for a Father's Day card. The card is held together with a belly band made with Basic Black cardstock and Silver Foil, wrapped from the back to the front and glued together. The Father's Day sentiment is from the Nailed It stamp set. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, but then wiped some of the black ink off, and colored those spots with a Delightlful Dijon Stampin' Write Marker. I then stamped it onto Very Vanilla cardstock and cropped it out with the coordinating Build It Framelits.

I glued the Vanilla Hexagon onto a scrap of Delightful Dijon and cut around the hexagon leaving about 1/8" showing. I repeated that process with Basic Black cardstock then glued the layered piece onto the largest Stitched Oval piece of Very Vanilla. I Fast Fused the whole piece to the belly band, covering up the seam.

And that's just the front!  Are you ready to see the inside? Here we go...

Ta-da!  It's a Twist & Pop-up card! A fun surprise for the recipient, for sure!

I used Urban Underground Designer Series Paper along with Basic Black Cardstock for the whole card. I decorated it with Nailed It images and Build It Framelits Dies. The DAD comes from Layered Letters Alphabet. I stamped the letters directly to the DSP with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. "Thanks for always building me up" comes in the Nailed It stamp set. I stamped it with Black onto Very Vanilla and cropped it with the smallest of the Stitched Oval framelits.

Here is a close-up of the tools ~

I stamped the saw twice - once on Delightful Dijon and once on Silver Foil (this needed StazOn permanent ink, as the water-based inks just smear no matter how long you let them dry.) I cut the saw, hammer, and screwdriver out twice using the matching framelits, trimmed and pieced them together for a more realistic look. The wrench, screws, and bolts are only Silver Foil.

This card looks complicated, but it is not! Leave me a message if you would like a tutorial on this Twist & Pop-Up fun fold! Maybe I will feature it in my next newsletter, coming June 1st, if there is interest in it. Here is one more look ~

Much of what I used on this card (with the exception of cardstocks, Silver Foil, and Stitched Framelits) is on the Retiring Product List. They will be available until May 31, or when supplies run out. You might want to take advantage of this opportunity to order them now. All products will be listed below. You can click on any product to be re-directed to my online store where you will see ordering details.

Thanks for visiting. To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!
