A Last Minute Birthday Card

A last minute invitation to spend the day with a friend who is turning 7 years old tomorrow calls for a quick card!  No need to sacrifice CUTE though with Stampin' Up!'s new Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  You get all kinds of cute birthday-appropriate papers in a 6" x 6" pack for only $8.00!

And the photopolymer Layered Letters Alphabet stamp set makes it really easy to personalize the card.  Let me show you the inside...

WOOHOO!   So easy and so cute.  Big News stamp set provided the sentiment pieces.  Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder, and Crushed Curry ink pads tie in with the balloons, which also adorn the outside of the envelope flap.  Oh, and a quick punch of gold glimmer paper for the star above the candle adds the sparkle every birthday card deserves.

We will be joining Andrew for a day at Sky Zone (trampoline extravaganza!) then swimming and picnic lunch.  Sounds like a boy's dream birthday to me!  Busy and active!!

Check back tomorrow morning for some new SUPER deals.  See my earlier post here.  Until then ~  Have a great day!

Dahlia Just For You

Good Friday Morning to you!  Just a quick post today...   I featured this card in my free newsletter this week.  If you are interested in receiving my newsletter in your email inbox, just click on Contact Me and fill out the short form.  Don't forget to specify Newsletter in the drop down box!  I post the latest Stampin' Up! special deals, share little tips of mine, and provide you with some inspiration with samples of my work.  It's all free, but I would love it if you would provide me with some feedback, comments, or questions. You can expect it either late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning each week.

I used the background stamp called Definitely Dahlia on this card.  I was trying to mimic the beautiful deep red dahlias in my garden.  This is close with Rose Red and Cherry Cobbler.  Paired with Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight, I love it's bold statement on Whisper White.

A trio of tiny pearls adorn the butterfly, which is punched out from Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches.

Enjoy your Friday!  Let me know if you would like more details on this card or if you have questions about my newsletter.  I would be happy to chat with you about it!

Until next time ~

Patriotic Stars for PPA 257

What a busy couple of weeks it has been for us here in Granite Bay!  We had our grandson living with us - he is nearly 9 years old and has mega energy!  We took him to Yosemite, to an Oakland A's game, and lots of baseball practices.  I ran the Granite Bay Courage Run 5K to support their very worthy cause.  We are in the middle of Vacation Bible School where I am corralling a busy group of third graders (that's kind of like herding cats!) and it's all been fun and exhausting, and I think next week will be a little calmer and less eventful!  And more time for stamping!! :-)

I made this card last night - I took the design from the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge this week ~

~a fun design by Nicole Watt.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of the cards that are created with this design.  You can see them too, by clicking HERE.

My patriotic card of red, white, and blue has a Whisper White base, a layer of Pacific Point, another layer of white which is embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The circles were cut using the Big Shot and the Circles Collection Framelits, #3 and #5 counting from the center, with Real Red and Whisper White.  I then took the Stars Framelits and cut out the center of the red circle with the #2 star.  I cut another circle # 5 using the striped paper from the Brights Designer Paper Stack (Pacific Point) and glued it to the back of the red circle/star.  A Pacific Point star - the smallest star in the framelits - was glued to the top of the white circle.

"Celebrate!" comes from the set And Many More:

I punched the tiny blue, red, and silver glimmer stars with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and glued them to some of the embossed stars.

Stampin' Dimensionals lift up the circles from the card.  I doubled them up on the bottom of the smaller circle.

The envelope gets a little decor from the matching striped DSP.

And there you have it ~  Ready for Independence Day!

You can purchase any of these products by clicking on the Shop Now button, or by clicking on the picture on the carousel below.

Happy Summer!  Stay cool!

Butterfly Birthday for PPA 256

Yesterday was my lovely sister-in-law's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Sarah!  What a perfect time to try out my new Watercolor Wings stamp set.  I am having so much fun experimenting with different colors on these three-way stamps.  Here's the set:

And here is this week's Pals Paper Arts sketch that inspired my design:

I chose my colors from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack.  Love the watermelon, black, and vanilla together.  I used my new Banner Triple punch on the flags.  Even though my paper strips are only 3/4" wide, I was able to center them between the little marks on the punch for perfect placement.

I have a couple of close-up shots for you, plus the envelope -- made the the Envelope Punch Board and new In Color Envelope Paper. This butterfly was stamped with Craft Whisper White and Memento Tuxedo Black....

 Rhinestones for extra sparkle

To see what other Pals have done with this sketch challenge, click HERE.  I always look forward to Thursday mornings to check out all the super creations that this group has put together!  Join me next week for another challenge, and perhaps a posting or two in between!

Beautiful Wings Birthday Card

I'm going to apologize right up front today for showing you a card that is made mostly with retired products.  I know that can be frustrating when you see something you like, but find out it isn't available anymore.  But I want to show it to you anyway, for the idea, not for the marketability.

This card is for a girl who is about to turn 9.  Her mom said, "She loves butterflies."  And I happen to know that she will love this color combination.  I found my old, much loved, Gingham Garden scraps and added some Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Island Indigo.  Then I pulled out my old Beautiful Wings Embosslits  (this JUST retired so I'm thinking that many of you still have it - ?) and cut out several butterflies.
The background texture is from the Paper Studio line. I only embossed the top 3/4 of the paper.  The sentiment, stamped with Melon Mambo, is from Curly Cute, another favorite retired stamp set that I will never get rid of!  The 1/4" ribbon is Island Indigo.  And the whole front is glued to a Melon Mambo base, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

I hope you will take my card layout and run with it!  You can choose any papers, any colors, mix and match the colors from a great DSP, and have fun with the arrangement.

Thanks for stopping by!
