Dress Ups For Gift Cards!

Good Monday Morning!  As we are approaching December (tomorrow!) I am thinking about gifts that I will be giving my family.  Wait -- don't tell me you are all done with your shopping!  In my dreams!

My own children are grown and two have families of their own now.  And although I will have wrapped gifts for my grandsons, my three would rather have gift cards than anything else.  So one of my favorite projects is creating gift card holders.  I've tried many styles in the past years.  This is a new one for me and I'm loving how it turned out.

I used Lots of Labels Framelits to cut the top edges, Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for the front texture, and Stars Framelits for the Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow stars on the belly band.  A cherry button from the Regals collection and Linen Thread adorn the band.

I stamped the inside using stamps from Santa's Gifts.  The pocket is the perfect fit for any gift card.

Back side

I will give dimensions and directions for this project in my December Newsletter.  If you would like to have that, simply sign up for my free newsletter at the top of this post, under Contact Me.  Be sure to designate Request My Newsletter in the pull down menu!

Here are another two that I made.  I utilized some scraps from previous years' DSP Stacks.

I hope I've given you a new idea for gift card holders!  Supplies are listed below and linked to my online store.  Have a great day!

Card making Fun

Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all of you!  My daughter and grandson are here for the weekend and we are enjoying their visit so much!

Isaac has always had fun making cards with me and he jumped at the chance to make one for his teacher this morning.  He picked the images from Santa's Gifts and stamped this little scene.  It's so cute!  With the photopolymer stamps, he was easily able to line everything up and place it where he wanted.  He did a great job of coloring in the scene with my Stampin' Write Markers.  He wrote the sweetest message inside for his teacher.

I just had to share!  (proud Grandma :-)

I hope you have had some wonderful time with your family and friends at Thanksgiving.  Don't forget that Stampin' Up!'s Online Extravaganza goes through Monday, Nov. 30.  You have 3 more days to take advantage of 20 - 50% off selected products.  See it HERE.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!  Thanks for stopping by ~

Wreath Card and Weekly Deals For You!

Oooo, shiny!  This wreath card showcases a product that is on this week's Weekly Deals.  It's the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack.

It's so pretty!  I layered it over Night of Navy.  It makes me think of looking out the window at night with just a little light shining on falling snowflakes.

I attached the vellum with 4 brads in the corners of the card.  It's on a layered piece of Navy 5 1/4" x 4", so the brads don't show on the inside of the card.

I cut the wreath out of a Gold Foil Sheet and embossed it with the (retired) poinsettia embossing folder.  The Night of Navy hanger is part of the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.  The gold ribbon is on sale this week during the Online Extravaganza Nov. 23 - 30.  Find that HERE. It is marked down 50% and is only $3.50 this week.  It's really luscious ribbon.

See the rest of the Weekly Deals HERE. I love the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper for holiday cards and the stamp sets are 25% off.  Great deals all over the place this week!

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!  I'll be back after the holiday to share some more!

Wonderland Twilight Scene

Can you tell how much I love this stamp set?  This is my third post in a row using it.  Definitely my current favorite.

I was inspired by a card I saw on Linda Heller's site.  I hadn't done much sponging before and she had some very good tips for creating this sky.

First I stamped the trees from Wonderland 3 times full strength with Basic Black Archival ink. Then I filled in the gaps with the "stamped off" ink to create some dimension.

This was all on a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Whisper White.  I tore the bottom 3/4" off the bottom before I started stamping.

I sponged the whole piece with Soft Sky, then I did around the edges and in toward the middle with Marina Mist.  I sponged Night of Navy around the edges, and finished with just a touch of Rich Razzleberry.

After the ink dried, I glued the stamped piece to a base of Heavy Whisper White and stamped the greeting along the bottom right edge using Memento Tuxedo Black.

I glittered the trees with Dazzling Diamonds over touches of the 2-Way Glue Pen.  It is quite sparkly in person, but the glitter never photographs well.

On the inside I stamped the greeting with Tuxedo Black, then stamped over it with the sprig stamp from the set in Encore Silver ink (purchased at the craft store).

I want to remind you that tomorrow is the day that the Online Extravaganza Sale begins.

I hope you'll be able to take advantage of these great prices and get some things that you've been wanting!

I will be back tomorrow with more details on the Extravaganza -- and the Flash Sale which will only be tomorrow, Monday, November 23.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderland Pines for PPA 276

Here is my card for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge for the week.  My design was inspired by this sketch by Kerry Willard Bray:

See all of the projects the Pals have come up with by clicking HERE.

I have to tell you I went through quite the process to complete this card.  I don't recommend this approach, but I am quite pleased with the end result, so sometimes you have to go around in circles before it lands where you want it!

I started with the trees from Wonderland and stamped them onto Whisper White cardstock with Basic Black Archival ink.  Then I sponged in the sky using Marina Mist and Night of Navy.  I glittered the trees - they just seemed to need some snow!  And there it sat for about 3 days waiting for my inspiration to kick in.

I backed it with navy.  It sat another day.  That navy snowflake paper was calling me, but it all seemed so busy when I put it under the trees.  I rejected that idea.  It sat.

This evening the PPA sketch popped into my mind and I thought maybe I could cut the snowflakes out with my 1" circle punch.  Awesome -- I got to use my navy snowflake paper, but it didn't overtake the trees. And the "Merry Christmas" from Teeny Tiny Wishes fit so perfectly in that little white space under the trees.  I didn't start out with a bow, but that blank white space was bugging me, so on it went.

Here's a close up of the glittery trees.  The glitter doesn't like to be photographed, does it?  It's much more sparkly in person.

And the inside sentiment is something we are all wishing for right about now ~

Enjoy your weekend!

Pink and Silver Wonderland

I have a friend named Pat who has always used pink and silver for her Christmas decorations.  This card is for her!

The picture doesn't really do it justice, as it sparkles and has lots of shine.  I used the trees from Wonderland and stamped them in Basic Gray, twice full strength and twice after stamping off.  A tiny bit of Pink Pirouette sponged in the sky gives it a light glow.

I tore the edge of a small piece of Whisper White and glued it to the bottom.  Then with my 2-Way Glue Pen I dabbed the edge of the "snow" and bits in the trees. Dazzling Diamonds glitter gives it just the sparkle I was looking for.

The tree panel is backed by Silver Foil.  Pink Pirouette cardstock was run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots embossing folder, then glued to the base of Basic Gray.

I stamped Silent Night with Basic Gray onto white, then free-hand cut around it, glued it to silver foil and cut again.  It is adhered with Dimensionals, as is the tree panel.  I placed an Iced Rhinestone in the upper left corner of the sky to balance the greeting in the lower right.

Inside -- a couple of falling silver stars from Holly Jolly Greetings, and the snowflakes from Wonderland surround the greeting.  I added tiny rhinestones because...well, why not???

Don't forget!  The Holiday catalog products are only available through December or until they run out.  If you have some favorites, as I do, get them now before it's too late!  If you are planning on making several of the same Holiday cards and you need that one embellishment from the catalog -- stock up now! Simply click on the image of the Holiday Catalog in the upper right corner of this post to order.

Thanks for stopping by!  See you again soon ~

Jolly Santa, Retiring Product List, & Weekly Deals!

My first Santa card!

Are you still in the Christmas mode?  Or have you jumped into the next "season" of the new Occasions Catalog and sneak peeks that you will be receiving soon?

I'm still into making Christmas cards.  It's not Thanksgiving yet, and I still feel like there is plenty of time to keep creating fun, whimsical, and beautiful cards to send to all my nearest and dearest.  This one definitely falls into the fun and whimsical category!

I started with a 4 1/4" x 11" Real Red base, folded in half with a side fold.  Next comes a layer of Whisper White, run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

The fun olive and red striped paper is from Merry Moments DSP (Annual Catalog) and it measures 4 1/4" x 3".  I glued it to a piece of Real Red, just a smidge larger at 4 1/2" x 3 1/4".

The olive banner is 1 1/2" wide.  I glued it to a piece of red and cut the red banner 1/8" larger than the green.

I cut Santa out of the Home For Christmas DSP for both the outside and inside.  I stamped a tiny candy cane, cut it out and glued it to Santa's hand.

The sentiment is from the Holly Jolly Greetings and Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies bundle.  I heat embossed   HAVE A   and  CHRISTMAS  directly onto the DSP layer, then glued  jolly  down using my Fine-tipped Glue Pen.  I dotted the j with a red Candy Dot.  3 Home for Christmas Enamel Dots anchor the bottom of the card.

Inside I glued a 3/4" strip of the striped paper to the bottom edge, cut and glued a different Santa from the same paper.  Fun!

Definitely not your quick and easy card, but for someone special -- worth every minute, don't you think?

What is your favorite style of Christmas card?  Whimsical, beautiful, ornate, simple, elegant?  I'd love to hear from you!

Now, while I'm still in the Christmas card-making mood, Stampin' Up! is moving on... For the first time ever, they have published a Retiring Product List for the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  These products are officially retiring in early January, but they are only available as the current supply lasts.  So if you have been thinking about ordering that favorite stamp set, paper, or holiday ribbon, etc., NOW would be the time to do it - before they run out!!!  Click HERE to see the list of retiring holiday products.

One more thing - my favorite day of the week - Tuesday!  New Weekly Deals!  Check them out by clicking HERE.

See you next time!  Have a great day!

Happy Anniversary!

It's not often that I make a card with products other than Stampin' Up!  This is one of those rare occasions.  My son and daughter-in-law are about to celebrate their third anniversary.  Their wedding had beautiful, vintage-like decorations in coppers and golds.  I found this paper in a local craft store that has pictures of romantic, vintage style celebrations and it's perfect.

I backed this picture on a sheet of bronze colored foil and popped it up over Chocolate Chip cardstock. The base is Very Vanilla.  I cropped a sheet of rust and gold leaves (BoBunny) with the Floral Frames Framelits and tucked them in behind the foil. I love how it picks up the color of the woman's hair!

On the inside I embossed the champagne glasses from Making Spirits Bright in gold, filled in the glasses with champagne-colored Stickles, stamped Happy Anniversary in Chocolate Chip, and die cut the "cheers" from SU's Greetings Thinlits out of the matching foil sheet.

The card is a 5 1/4" square, so I made an envelope to fit with our Envelope Punch Board, and backed the flap with the matching leaf print.

I want to wish my kids a Happy Anniversary!  They are such a sweet family with 2 year old grandson, Oscar.  Love you guys!  Here's to many more happy years together!!

I did use a few Stampin' Up! products on this card and will list them below.  I hope all of you have a great week ~

Sympathy Card

Occasionally,  we have to send out sympathy cards, and sadly I needed one to send out this week.

The original design for this card was from Julie Davison.  I changed it up slightly to open as a regular A2 card, allowing me more room for a note inside.  The color palette is Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, and Early Espresso.

I love this branch/bird stamp from Serene Silhouettes:

The two-part sentiment is from Petite Pairs. I also used the branch stamp on the inside with Sahara Sand ink, stamped off once for a very light look.

I used a piece of Sahara Sand DSP from the retired Something Borrowed to cover the back flap of the envelope.

Did you visit our Pals Blog Hop yesterday?  If you missed it, be sure to go back and scroll through.  There were some great project and card ideas with Thanksgiving and Thank you themes.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Thankful for Blog Hops!

Welcome to the Pals November Blog Hop for November.  We’re so thankful you stopped by. This month we’re showcasing projects that feature Stampin’ Up! Thanksgiving and “Thank You” products.  We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or you may have come from the previous blog on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you can enjoy each and every beautiful project.

I've been wanting to use this bear on a card ever since I got this set, Thankful Forest Friends. I've used the charming sentiments a few times but until now I hadn't used the bear. He is so cute!

This simple-looking card has quite a few-although easy-steps to it. First, I stamped the bear in Early Espresso and fussy-cut him out. The Designer Series Paper layer is the Soft Suede wood grain paper from Into the Woods. The sentiment, also from Thankful Forest Friends, was colored with Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz and Rich Razzleberry by sponging the color onto the stamp with Sponge Daubbers. I used Circles Framelits #6 and #7.   Stampin' Dimensionals pop up the circles and the bear. A wooden element from Into the Woods points to the sentiment. A quick dash around the circle with the Pear Pizzazz marker gives a little added interest.
For the inside I stamped a leaf from Vintage Leaves with Pear Pizzazz, stamping off once. (I forgot to add Vintage Leaves in my list of product below.  If you would like to see the set and/or order it, click here.)  Over the leaf I stamped Happy Thanksgiving by masking and piecing 2 stamps, one from Tin of Cards and the other from Lighthearted Leaves.
Not forgetting the envelope -- The bear is peeking over the bottom, holding a branch from Thankful Forest Friends, and "Happy Thanksgiving" is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I lined it up with my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig for almost-perfect placement!

To see the products I used to create this card, scroll down below the Blog Hop line-up.  If you click on the pictures it will take you to my online store and you can read more about the products there.  If you wish to purchase anything, I would appreciate your orders!  If you have questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for visiting.  To continue with the hop, please refer to the Blog Hop Line-up below. We hope to see you on next month’s Pals Blog Hop!
